How to tell if an online pack opening site is legit
Check any online pack opening site before you deposit: odds, card values, sell-back, shipping, company details, age rules, withdrawals, reviews.
New pack opening sites launch every month, and search results for most of them include a "scam?" thread somewhere. Most complaints come down to a few things: odds that were hard to find, card values that felt inflated, slow shipping or slow withdrawals. Here's how to check any site in ten minutes, before you deposit.
The 8-point checklist
- Odds before you pay. Every pack should show its odds, ideally as value ranges with percentages, before you buy. Odds hidden behind a login, a dropdown far from the buy button, or not shown at all are a warning sign.
- Where card values come from. The site should say how it values cards, usually recent sales on major marketplaces. If values look high, check a few recent sales yourself.
- A stated sell-back rate. Look for a clear rate (85-90% is typical) in the terms, not just in ads. Note whether sell-back pays cash or site credit only.
- Shipping that's spelled out. Fees, timeframes and which countries or states they ship to. Then test it: ship one low-value pull early.
- A real company. The terms should name a legal entity and the law that governs them. Anonymous sites with no company name are a hard no.
- Age and state rules. Legit US sites require you to be 18+ and don't operate everywhere. A site that lets anyone play anywhere isn't being generous; it's cutting corners.
- Withdrawals you can actually make. Identity checks before your first withdrawal are normal. So are short holds after a deposit. Withdrawals that never arrive, or rules that change after you win, are not.
- What players say. Check recent reviews on Trustpilot, the app stores and Reddit. One angry post means little; the same complaint over and over means a lot.
Bonus points
- Expected value shown per pack. Some sites publish it. It's the clearest sign of a site with nothing to hide. You can always work it out yourself with our pack odds calculator.
- Spending limits and breaks. Tools that let you cap deposits or pause your account show a site cares about players, not just deposits.
- Fair-play proof. A few sites publish ways to verify that pack results weren't changed after you bought.
If something goes wrong
Screenshot your pull, the odds page and any messages. Contact support in writing. If you paid by card and the site doesn't respond, your card issuer may be able to help.

Quick answers
How can I tell if a pack opening site actually ships cards?
Look for published shipping times and fees, a clear process in the terms, and recent reviews or social posts from people showing cards they received. Ship one low-value card early to test it yourself before spending heavily.
Is it normal for a pack opening site to ask for ID?
Yes. Legitimate sites in the US usually verify your identity and age before withdrawals or shipping, and some limit how quickly you can withdraw after depositing. It's a sign the site takes payments and age rules seriously.
